GSC Invests in Dual Makino MAG1 for High-Productivity Aerospace Machining

Grupo Sevilla Control (GSC) continues to take decisive steps in the modernization of its machining facilities with the addition of two new Makino MAG1 5-Axis Horizontal Machining Centers. These CNC machines are ideally suited for the high-productivity machining of monolithic aerospace parts under 1.5 meters.

Makino MAG1: 5-Axis Horizontal Machining for the Aerospace Industry

The Makino MAG 1 is a horizontal machining center specializing in high-speed CNC operations. Engineered for maximum efficiency, it leverages advanced machining techniques to deliver unmatched reliability and precision for complex aerospace components. With this acquisition, we aim to implement the following improvements in our workshop:

  • Optimized for Large Components: With a pallet size of 800 x 1,000 mm and a maximum workpiece capacity of ø1,500 x 1,500 mm, these machines are ideally suited for medium-sized airframe components.
  • Precision 5-Axis Kinematics: The 5-axis design provides five-face accessibility to the workpiece. This minimizes the need for multiple setups, which in turn reduces process variation and ensures unbeatable accuracy for complex structural components.
  • Speed and Power: Each MAG1 features an industry-leading 33,000 RPM spindle with 120 kW (161 HP) of power. With rapid traverse and cutting feedrates of 50,000 mm/min, we can significantly slash cycle times and increase throughput.
  • Continuous Productivity: Each unit is equipped with a 120-tool Automatic Tool Changer (ATC). Furthermore, the MAG1 is designed for integration into flexible pallet systems, enabling extended periods of unattended operation to keep our plant running around the clock.

A Decisive Step Toward High-Performance Aerospace Manufacturing

The addition of two Makino MAG1 machines represents a strategic step in GSC’s technological evolution, reinforcing its commitment to precision, reliability, and efficiency in the manufacturing of aerospace components. Thanks to this investment in machining technology, GSC expands its capability to execute high-rate aerospace programs, combining high production volumes with extremely demanding quality standards.

Grupo Sevilla Control strengthens its ability to deliver comprehensive solutions to aerospace industry customers, bringing together innovation, performance, and reliability to meet the sector’s most challenging deadlines and stringent technical requirements.
